Science is alive and well at Blackburn High School. The Learning Area is always inspiring and extending students through a variety of competitions. Congratulations to one of our student science teams that participated in the prestigious Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) Titration Competition.
Schools are invited to enter teams of three from Years 10, 11 and 12. The aim of the competition is to encourage students who enjoy Chemistry – especially practical Chemistry – and to recognise those who are becoming proficient.
A titration is a technique where a solution of known concentration is used to determine the concentration of an unknown solution. For a successful titration, students are required to demonstrate excellent proficiency in laboratory techniques, mathematics and chemistry.
The Blackburn team achieved an excellent result in the Victorian section of the competition and have now been invited to compete at the National level.
