Senior Stage Band the best in Australia
At the prestigious Generations in Jazz festival held at Mt Gambier recently, Blackburn’s Senior Stage Band took out first prize in the highest division, Division One. This achievement makes them the best student Jazz band in Australia.
Outstanding results at Generations in Jazz 2014
The Blackburn High School Stage Band won first prize in their division, impressing the judges by playing two songs from memory.
Zac O’Connell (alto saxophone) and Matt Todd (trumpet) were judged the Best of the Best Solo Performers on their respective instruments.
Congratulations to the following Blackburn musicians, who were recognised as being the best student instrumentalists in Australia in their divisions: James Heaney (piano), Bronson Zoltan (piano), Tashi Nott (percussion), Michael Lo (trombone), Ronan Nicholson (double bass), Che Ianno-Booth (double bass) and Oliver Iaconna (drum kit).
