Blackburn High School welcomes our newest students to the school community.
You will find all the information you need for a smooth high school transition for your child below.
If you are eligible, please complete the Uniform Package order form and return it to the Blackburn High School front office before 1st December. This will enable us to process your application in time for Term 1. Any orders submitted after this date will be delayed.
When selecting shoes, your child’s foot size must be correctly measured as returns can be time consuming and problematic. Please use the sizing chart (available from the front office).
You will be notified by the school when your shoes and uniform vouchers are ready for collection.
Vouchers have an expiry date and must be redeemed at Dobsons, 274 Doncaster Rd, North Balwyn. Expired vouchers will not be honoured and cannot be re-issued.
Applications for CSEF Funding open at the beginning of Term 1. Please complete the CSEF form and provide a copy of your Healthcare Card to the Blackburn High School front office and we will apply on your behalf. The CSEF funds will be received by the school in early March and held in your school account and may be used towards the cost of Year 7 camp. Please note that the CSEF amount may not be enough to cover the whole cost of the camp, so there may be a gap to pay. Funding can also be used for excursions and interschool sport events. While applications will only be initiated early in the year, completed forms and copies of Healthcare Cards can be dropped off at the front office at any time.

What is the assessment?
The assessment is a diagnostic tool that lets us know about your child. There are four, 30 minute assessments divided into two sessions. The first session is based around general ability and the second session is about skills and knowledge acquired through primary school. There will be a half hour break in between the two sessions.
Do I need to study for the assessment?
No – this is an assessment only of the skills and knowledge learnt through primary school and the student’s potential.
How is the assessment conducted?
Onsite in Term 3 of the Grade 6 year.
How is the High Achievers Class Selected
The High Achievers class for Year 7 will be selected from enrolled students following this assessment.
You will receive a secure login to the parent portal in Term 4.
Do not share your password with your child, as this is used for confidential information for parents only. Students will receive their own secure login and password when commencing Year 7.
For details of the information that is collected for you and stored on our Parent Portal, please see our Enrolment Collection Notice and Secondary Collection Notice here.
