An extensive leadership program operates from Year 7 to VCE. The role of our student leadership team as a conduit between the student body and the school’s Principal team is highly valued.
The school has a number of senior student leadership portfolios:
School Captains
House Captains- one for each of the four Houses
Music Captains
Sport Captains
Environment Captain
Debating Captain
Social Justice Captain
There is a thorough selection process the positions in the Senior Student Leadership team. Each candidate for a senior leadership position submits a comprehensive application, addresses the student body and undertakes an extensive interview with the Principal team. Staff and Students then vote.
There are also Mentor Group Leaders, individual sports leaders, music ensemble leaders and House committee members. Consequently there are many opportunities for students who wish to develop their leadership capabilities.
Students receive training in leadership in a number of forums. Programs include training for students to become Mentor Group leaders, involvement in the Sports Leadership training and the residential School for Student Leadership.
Students involved in leadership positions have the opportunity to represent the school at a number of community events including Lions Youth of the Year, Model United Nations Assembly, visits to Parliament, discussions with local members of Parliament and ANZAC Day commemorations, and the School Captains are observers on School Council.
