“If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right book.” – J.K. Rowling
Finding the right book has just become a whole lot easier with the introduction of mini book collections in every House Area.
To promote, engage and increase wide reading among students at Blackburn High School mini book collections have been created for their own special display cases in each of the House areas. In each of the mini collections there are a variety of books covering a wide range of genres. The book cases are prominently positioned so students see the choices they have all day, every day.
Students will be encouraged to browse through these books and perhaps read a few pages during ‘Friday Reading Time’ in Mentor Group and if a book takes their fancy they can borrow it from the main Resource Centre.
The books in the mini libraries are changed regularly to ensure students see a wide range of titles and genres.
