Keeping Safe in Cyber Space is a key focus at Blackburn High School and as such a community education seminar for all parents and guardians was recently held.

Over 90 parents and carers of young children and adolescents from the Blackburn High School community and the local primary schools attended an informative presentation on keeping safe in the cyber world.

The presenter was Susan McLean, Australia’s foremost expert in the area of cyber safety and young people, who was a member of Victoria Police for 27 years. Susan is unique in her vast knowledge and expertise in this area, and is the only person in Australia with her specific background, experience and qualifications. She is a sought after presenter and advisor and has delivered keynote presentations, written papers and regularly provides professional development for those working in education and other key youth stakeholders.

Susan’s presentation was very engaging, thought provoking and empowering for the parents and carers whoi drew on her many year’s of experience working in cyberspace.

Susan will be working with staff and students  at Blackburn High School in 2018 so that our community remains fully informed of the dangers of online activity in cyber space.
