Blackburn High School was one of a number of schools nominated recently for the Whitehorse City Sports Awards in the “School of the Year” category.  At a ceremony last Wednesday night, 10th October, the schools were assessed by a panel from the Sport and Recreation Committee at the Whitehorse City Council against the following criteria:

  • High level sporting achievement
  • High level participation in sport and recreation
  • Overall benefit and value of the sporting program

At the end of the judging, Blackburn High School was named the 2018 Sport School of the Year and was presented with a trophy by the Mayor of Whitehorse.

Blackburn High School also had five student nominees in the Junior Sportsperson of the Year category – Gaby DeAngelis, Cadhla Schmidli, Ethan Hewitt, Louise Hewitt and Olive Roche.
