Big Week for Henrik Beasey
On Monday night, BHS lead trumpet extraordinaire,
Henrik Beasy joined a select list of prominent Melbourne student musicians, when
he was given a guest spot playing lead with the Australian Showband, at The
Apartment, Little Bourke St.
Henrik played with plenty of power and great assurance on the great Count Basie
number Shiny Stockings – much to the admiring glances of the rest of the trumpet
section (Shane Hughes, Ross Irwin BHS 2000, Vinnie Bourke and Danny Madden
father of Andrew / Chris BHS 2001) and band. Later in the night he joined the
trumpet section again to play a few more numbers.
Many BHS friends and families were there to be a part of the night. The Showband
features some of Melbourne’s leading professional musicians and they perform the
last Monday of each month at The Apartment.
Incidentally, just to give an indication of the BHS impact on music around town:
five of the current band of 16 are BHS graduates!!
… and about 6 hours later…
The Last Post resounded on ANZAC morning
Whilst many were still tucked up in bed on a very chilly morning last Tuesday,
the haunting strains of the Last Post and Reveille filled the air around
Blackburn, when Henrik Beasy played for the Blackburn RSL sub-branch dawn
service.
